Science is a continuous process by which individuals develop an understanding of the physical and biological aspects of the world. As Whitbourne is a small village school we are able to draw on its rural surroundings to supplement scientific work in the classroom.
The four programmes of study are:
Scientific Investigation: pupils will use their knowledge of science to develop their powers of investigation.
Living Things Pupils find out how living things grow, feed, move, and use their sense and the importance of good health as well as the organisation of living things within the world, their habitats and how they use their environments.
Materials: Pupils learn about similarities and differences between a variety of everyday materials. They will explore what happens to these materials when they are heated, cooled, weathered, stretched, bent, twisted etc.
<Physical Processes: Pupils will find out about electricity and magnetism, the effects of pulls and pushes, light and sound, the solar system and the seasons.
