Children have opportunities to design and build artefacts in a range of contexts: structures, food, textiles and mechanisms. They carry out short focused tasks in order to learn and practise skills and techniques.  These are then applied in the design and making assignments.

This will be through the areas of:

Textiles: working with different fabrics

CDT: constructing and making, using kits, wood, plastics, clay and metals to construct a variety of items

Graphics: working with texts and pictures in various forms

Designing: generating ideas, matching ideas to requirements, using appropriate construction materials to make models evaluating the success of their ideas and models, recording designs, reflecting on ideas and suggesting improvements.
