It is a process which provides information on the individual’s achievement, which identifies what the child knows ands is able to do and provides information to guide future learning.
Our aims through assessment, recording and reporting are:
To support the child learning, helping to diagnose strengths and weaknesses
To help teachers match the work of the classroom to their children’s capabilities ands assist teachers in evaluating the curriculum
To assist in considering to what extent teaching and learning objects have been met
To provide information for a wide range of interested parties.
Assessment
Assessment takes place continually. Formal assessment is carried out as follows:
Reception: Within the first five weeks of entry into school the children are assessed using the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile Year 1: The pupils undergo standardised assessments in Literacy, Maths. Year 2: Statutory Standard Assessment Tasks and Tests for the end of Key Stage One are undertaken Year 3/4/5: The children undergo Optional Statutory Standard Assessment Tasks and Tests Year 6: Statutory Standard Assessment Tasks and Tests for the end of Key Stage Two
Parents Consultations
Each term there is an opportunity for parents to consult with their child’s class teacher at parents’ evenings.
A written report is sent to all parents at the end of the summer term.
Where parents are concerned about any matter, they should not hesitate to contact or visit the school immediately, though parents are requested to note that the start of the school day is an extremely busy time. If the discussions require a greater length of time an appointment can be made after school hours.
